Can you describe your role within your organization?
For the past 4 years, I have been working in digital transformation during the day while dedicating my nights to creating a calendar based on the experience of time in Space. After all these years, I can now apply the guiding principles of development and innovation that I learned from my work within the Space field to my digital transformation job. I refer to these principles as the Space guiding principles:
The Overview Effect Principle: This involves zooming out and assessing the entire value chain of the product. The Spacesuit Principle: Despite the complexity of a product, it's essential to develop it from the perspective of a human using it. The Delayed Connectivity Principle: To enable deep work for employees, optimize the development processes. The Wide Time Principle: Choose a meaningful time unit to measure the progress of a project. The New Logics Principle: Foster innovation by creating new words and new logics for products that do not yet exist.
How did you get in contact with the field of space and your discipline?
When I first started working in digital development, Covid isolation had just started, and I had nowhere to go for summer holidays. I discovered that a local organization in Copenhagen was organizing a Virtual Space Summer camp for a week, so I decided to join it. I became fascinated by the Space industry and discovered how Space Psychology works and how it affects humans in Space. Since then, my passion for it has grown. I dedicated my evenings almost every day to work within that realm, creating a calendar. Now, I am finally applying Space Psychology principles in my everyday job in digital transformation.
What advice would you give fellow non-tech space enthusiasts if they want to pursue a job in space?
Not every Space enthusiast has ambitions of determining rocket launch trajectories. In fact, non-technical space enthusiasts like us are quite rare and sought after due to our unique perspective and interests in the field. With these unique perspective we come in, it´s easier to spot the blue oceans of opporutnities that the technical people have not noticed.
