How did you get in contact with the field of space and your discipline?
After completing my masters in organizational sociology, I worked as a human resources business partner in Intel and as a VP of HR in a medical global company. After 8 years in HR, I joint the Technion, Israel’s leading technological university, to take part of the establishment of the Technion International Center. Once the unit was established, I managed the operations and 250 employees of this unit. After 5 years I was offered to take the part of the ISU (International Space University) SSP (Space Studies Program) Local Host Director, took place in Israel in 2016. That was a mind-blowing experience and after this I became a space enthusiast. Then, with 8 years in HR and 8 years in management I’ve decided to start my own journey and became a global organizational consultant and a group facilitator, specializing in management and leadership development. I am also a lecturer at the Management & Business department of the ISU-SSP and get to instruct space leaders from all over the world. I’m also volunteering as the head of behavioral sciences at the Israeli Mars Simulation Center, D-MARS. I feel I bring lot's of value as an Organizational Sociologist and a Group Facilitator to the global, international, fast growing new space. I do that in developing the next space leaders and in team building activities.
Can you tell us more about your day to day activities?
Most of my days are dedicated to instruct and facilitate leadership and management workshops in global technological high-tech companies and start ups. Prior to each management program, I hold need assessments and organizational diagnosis and develop each workshop and program according to the specific managerial/team/organizational needs. I take part in international analog mission, in selecting the analog astronauts and team building activities which are crucial for the crew’s success. Every summer I travel to lecture at the ISU SSP, went to the Netherlands, France, Portugal and can’t wait to go to Brazil coming July.
What is the most fun in your job?
I enjoy watching others thrive and grow while bringing their best to lead, dare, and grow others. I love to meet diverse groups of people and provide them with the right mindset, skills and tools so they will be able to function at their best for long period of time in terms of stress, uncertainty and change. I noticed many similarities between space missions and working at the new world of work, global, hybrid, remote and dynamic. Those characteristics requires us to demonstrate higher emotional intelligence and ability to generate and maintain trust and collaboration. I enjoy helping individuals and groups to develop those skills.
