Can you describe your role within your organization?
The major and common task among the three roles is bridging between Japan, the Asia-Pacific region, and other countries and regions, mostly the EU and the U.S. Daily tasks involve information gathering and publishment of my country or region's space policy, strategy, and industrial news. On special occasions, I organise policy exchange meetings and forums.
How does your specific non-tech discipline or expertise add value to your organization?
My background in economics and international political science contributes to interdisciplinary research in the field of space industry and space policy. The qualitative approach can demonstrate what the global scenario is and who the stakeholders are while quantitative research can statistically analyse the actual implementation by balancing optimization of policy options, such as appropriate regulation to encourage industrial development and environmental protection. The combination of political perspectives and numerical databases improves precision and specificity, making global regulatory procedures more objective and dependable for effective public policy.
What ambitions do you have for your space career?
My professional long-term goal is to contribute to delivering and maintaining a variety of space benefits for all humankind, regardless of social and economic standing, including future generations, as a Space Diplomat. I would like to achieve equitable opportunity and peace in outer space realized through policy formation for the benefit of humanity beyond national interests. Building upon my international experience, I firmly believe that international cooperation is encouraged and should be based on sincere bilateral and multilateral friendships, leading to the sustainable development of public policy.
